“Within a few minutes a head began to emerge with a thick bag of water surrounding it. When my hands placed her on her mother’s chest, she was truly still between two worlds. The sticky veil that covered the rest of her face was caught between my fingers. I withdrew it and thanked him for letting me show it off. This adorable baby snuggled up to her mother and stared out at the world. Not a cry during the first hours after her birth. Just in complete amazement at the life he was given.” – Lindsey Meehleis

“How awesome is this en-caul baby? Did you know that your waters do not always have to “soak”? If left like this, the amniotic sac and membranes will loosen when it’s done, or not at all.” – published by The Birth Space.
“The baby was born en caul! Truly an amazing thing to witness” – Kate Murray Birth and Life
I love all the details in this photo… those lips and those little toes!
All these hands! what a story Can you believe this second photo made the top 100 in a global competition of over 500,000 entries? This experience was just amazing. Mom and the midwife were unwrapping the baby and the baby was reaching for mom.
