Nikki said: “I got a call from a friend that there was a kitten in a tree in the Walmart parking lot that appeared to be seriously ill. The little stray is dirty and needs a lot of help. “His eyelids were sealed due to an infection.”
Nikki was working at the time she got the call, so she helped the person step by step safely get the kitten out of the tree. That afternoon she came to pick him up. “He had the sweetest personality from the moment I found him,” she said.
The moment they met, Wally shouted to the lifeguards on his aircraft carrier as if he were telling them, “Thanks for saving my life.” He goes home to Nikki, and throws tantrums when he’s taken care of. The day after I put it in, I immediately took it to my vet and she did the sᴜʀɢᴇʀʏ.
After the surgery, little boy Wally sat in his adoptive mother’s lap, cuddling. Wally was born blind with a condition called micro ophthalmia (small eyes). His eye socket was severely infected and needed to be cleaned and sᴜʀɢɪᴄᴀʟʟʏ closed to prevent further debris and infection from forming. Because the infection was so severe, he had to undergo two more sᴜʀɢᴇʀɪᴇs but will have his sᴛɪᴛᴄʜᴇs removed on Friday and thankfully he won’t have to have any more.
Wally is named after the ‘Wally World’ Walmart parking lot he was found there. He seems to know that his human friends are there to help him. Every day he tells them how grateful he is. He is a playful guy and always demands attention and love. Nikki said: “He is healthy, happy and loves to play. He is a good inspiration to me and others. Despite his disability, that does not stop him.”
Wally may be blind, but he can ‘see’ through his other senses. In a few weeks, he will be traveling from Las Vegas to his permanent home in Charlotte, NC!. Nothing can stop Wally from being a happy kitten
He wags his tail like a puppy, so adorable! He is such a happy boy.
