It looks a lot like a potato, but it’s not.
TikTok social network has now become a “big sea” for people who like exotic foods from all over the world. There are foods and fruits that are familiar but still extremely attractive, there are “strange things” that have never been seen, causing curiosity to millions of netizens and after getting the answer, they nodded in recognition. This world is so full of interesting things that even if you go to all five continents and four pools, you will not be able to fully understand it.
Recently, a TikTok account specializing in fruits and vegetables named @cccase2000 shared a video showing a strange scene that attracted the attention of netizens. It is a strange scene because the video shows a tree that produces tubers as tall as a pile of earth, easily having several hundred bulbs. Outwardly it looks like a potato, but when a man peels it off, it doesn’t.
The strange “potato” tree produces hundreds of tubers at a time
That’s why it makes netizens extremely curious about what kind of tree, what tuber it is. The account owner who posted the video also quizzed netizens without revealing its name.
Later, a few netizens discovered that it was the yam plant (Yacon) which is a tuber shaped like a sweet potato, contains a lot of water, has a sweet taste, and flowers like chrysanthemums.
Ginseng, scientifically known as Smallanthus sonchifolius, is a herbaceous perennial plant of the Asteraceae family, native to the Andes region of South America. The taste of this ginseng is quite sweet, cool, not too sweet and sandy like a pear, crispy like a bean but not too hard and has the aroma of ginseng. When eating, you will feel the aroma lingering in the mouth.
Ginseng has many uses, good for health
In Vietnam, Yacon ginseng is called by many different names such as Fanxipan Ginseng, Dat Ginseng, Khoai Ginseng, Dia Tang Thien, Thuong Dang Ginseng, etc. They are grown a lot in Lam Dong.
However, each plant, even if it’s “lucky”, can only produce more than a dozen to 20 tubers per root, but not as many as a few hundred tall bulbs as shown in the video. And so, netizens are keen to reveal the fact that this is man-made.
They piled the mandrakes together and filled them with dirt to make them look like they had grown out of a tree stump. Maybe the purpose of this is to attract the attention of the people. And if so, then they have indeed succeeded. The video attracted 200,000 views and more than 6,000 likes and comments.
